Questions & answers
The things people ask before they call.
Everything below is answered in the order you'd actually want it — from who turns up and what Part P registration means, through quotes and pricing, to the paperwork you keep afterwards.
About Neaves Electric
Who will actually turn up to do the work?
James Neaves — every time. Neaves Electric is a sole-trader business, so the person you speak to for the quote is the person who does the work. No subcontractors, no rotating crews.
Are you registered and insured?
Yes to both. James is Part P registered and fully insured — the two things every homeowner should check before letting anyone work on their electrics.
What does Part P registered mean for me?
Part P is the section of the Building Regulations that covers electrical safety in homes. Being Part P registered means James can carry out and certify notifiable electrical work to that standard, and you receive the correct certificate for your records — no chasing paperwork later.
Where are you based?
At Level's Green, on the edge of Bishop's Stortford — CM23 1HY. From there James covers the town and the surrounding Hertfordshire villages.
How are your Google reviews?
Neaves Electric holds a perfect 5.0 rating across 42 Google reviews — every single one is five stars. One reviewer put it plainly: "if your reading this you've found the perfect electrician."
The work we do
Do you install EV chargers?
Yes — it's the specialism. EV chargepoints are the job James is asked for most and the one customers recommend him for again and again. He supplies and installs home and commercial charge points end to end, usually after a home visit to talk through your options.
What other electrical work do you take on?
Full property rewires from start to finish, socket faceplate changes, supplying and fitting new light fittings, and general electrical work of every kind — extra sockets, bathroom fans, outdoor sockets and lighting, fuse board work and more.
Is any job too small?
No. From a single socket front change or one light fitting up to a full rewire, James takes on the small jobs with the same care as the large ones — and the same neat finish.
Do you work for businesses as well as homes?
Yes. EV chargepoint installation covers both home and commercial premises, and general electrical work is carried out for domestic and commercial customers alike.
Quotes & booking
How do I get a quote?
Call 07891 994434 or email james@neaveselectric.co.uk with a few details about the job. For EV chargers and larger work, James will often arrange a quick home visit to see the site and talk through your options before quoting.
How quickly will you respond?
Promptly — responsiveness is one of the most common things reviewers mention. James replies to quote requests quickly and agrees a date for the work with you when you get in touch.
What are your hours?
James works Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, and is closed at weekends. Enquiries by phone or email are welcome any time, and he'll get back to you.
Will I have to wait in all day?
No. James agrees a time with you and turns up when he says he will — punctuality and clear communication come up throughout the reviews.
Pricing & payment
How much will it cost?
James gives you a clear, competitive quote before any work starts, with a plain-English explanation of what's involved. Reviewers repeatedly describe his pricing as fast, competitive and fair.
Will the price change once you've started?
You'll have a price agreed before work begins. If something unexpected comes to light, James talks it through with you first — no surprises added to the bill afterwards.
Do you cut corners on materials to keep the price down?
No. One reviewer specifically noted James "didn't scrimp on the board" — he uses the right parts for the job rather than the cheapest, and still keeps the quote competitive.
After the job
What documentation will I receive?
For notifiable work, you receive the appropriate electrical certificate to Part P — the paperwork you'll want for your records, insurance or a future house sale.
Will you leave a mess?
No. Neat, tidy work is the single most-repeated theme in the reviews — one customer noted the job was "very tided" and the rubbish removed. The site is left clean.
Do customers come back and recommend you?
Yes — repeatedly. Reviewers say they wouldn't hesitate to use James again and would recommend him to others. It's how a sole trader builds 42 five-star reviews.
Still got a question?
Call James and ask, or drop him an email. He'll give you a straight answer.
